From remote mountain villages to the turquoise waters of the MediterraneanThis journey unfolds through the heart of southern Albania, where ancient paths lead from quiet mountain valleys to the light of the Ionian Sea. Step by step, the landscape reveals itself — stone villages, pine forests, wide rivers, and high passes shaped by time, tradition, and silence. We walk through places where history still breathes along old caravan trails, across Ottoman bridges, through UNESCO cities like Berat, Gjirokastër, and Butrint, and beside the wild flow of the Vjosa River, one of Europe’s last free rivers. Hidden wonders like the Blue Eye shimmer in deep blues, while the Zagoria Valley offers a world untouched by hurry. As mountains soften into coastline, the journey opens to the Ionian Riviera — turquoise waters, secluded coves, and sunsets over the sea. A swim at day’s end, shared meals, quiet villages, and warm hospitality become part of the rhythm. This is more than a hike. It is a slow passage through Albania’s landscapes, culture, and living spirit — a journey for those who walk not to arrive, but to truly experience.

This journey reveals southern Albania at walking pace, with the Zagoria Valley at its heart — a region defined by silence, stone villages, and landscapes shaped more by time than tourism. It is a tour for travelers who value authenticity, cultural depth, and untouched nature over comfort and speed. You’ll walk ancient caravan paths through rugged mountain terrain, remote valleys, pine forests, waterfalls, and high passes, staying in family-run homestays in Zagoria (shared rooms, simple facilities, warm hospitality) before transitioning to comfortable hotels as the route moves south. The hike includes three moderate days (4–6 hours daily) and a more demanding crossing of the Dhembel Pass, requiring good fitness, balance, and confidence on ascents and descents. Along the way, history and daily life blend naturally: Ottoman stone bridges, monasteries, mountain villages, and genuine encounters with locals — coffee with shepherds, village visits, and home-cooked meals.
Optimal hiking times in Southern Albania are during Spring from April to mid-June and in Autumn from Early September to mid-November
